Seed Week 2021

18/01/21 - 22/01/21

Seed Week: Growing through lockdown

From 18th to 22nd of January, seed savers and gardeners from across the country will celebrate Seed Week, an annual online event highlighting the essential work of organic and agro-ecological seed producers and sellers selecting and growing the finest seed across the UK and Ireland.

WHAg supports this celebration of ‘agroecology’

– locally grown seed can adapt to local soil, climate and ecology this is a key part of whole health
– forgotten local seed varieties and plant material grown in harmony with local ecology may be a critical factor in whole health
– open pollinated seeds (OP) show different characteristics to hybrid seeds that might be important in transmitting health
– nurturing a seed culture is part of renewing the culture in agriculture and that is crucial to whole health
